what about real virtual desktop?

this is just a fancy idea:
instead of all workspaces sharing same monitor-size
desktop{picture+icons}, map one BIG desktop{ picture, maybe icons }
to the set of all_ workspaces as one big thing; each workspace
showing part of it.
i.e. if 4 workspaces in a 2x2, each workspace would show the relevant
1/4 of it.

This may or may not include the icons as well - so they can be shared
between all places, or each workspace has its own (sub)set...

Same way like A2 paper is being printed on A4 papers - cut into
pages - so the workspaces will be just 'pages' of your desktop.
Hence the "pager" plugin will be really a pager.

And then, choosing a proper photography may put quite some sense in
the "virtual desktop" - what stays where - i guess a notorious one
will be to photoraph the chaos on your real wooden work-table and
have that as background ;-)
