Compiling the panel of xface

Hi,

I am new to xfce developement.

For my project I need to configure panel so that it doesn't show up at
all
or it shows with little items on it.

I configured the "xfce4-panel-4.2.3" code. But after configuring I am
not
able to get the Makefile so that I can run make on it to actually build
the code.

Is there any specific way to run configure so that I get the Makefile?

Please help me out.
