Mailwatch plugin fails to access IMAP account

I've installed the latest snapshot of mailwatch plugin on 4.4RC2, but 
although it works fine for my POP3 and Gmail accounts, I'm getting no 
response with IMAP. I've double checked the user/password details and 
other settings - all are correct, and work as expected in my mail client 
and adesklet mail checker (which I'd like to replace with mailwatch :) ).

Any suggestions appreciated.
