You may, but I'd probably close it WONTFIX.  Gtk doesn't support the
kind of notation you've tried, and implementing it properly would
require adding more style properties.  The hidden option was added
reluctantly to quell the complainers who didn't like having a text
background; I'm not inclined to add even more to that.
