Encoding issue with xfdesktop

Update on this... someone filed a bug[1] about this problem.  Looks like
it's affecting Hungarian as well.

And the odd thing is that when he refreshed the desktop with ctrl+r, it
reappeared with the correct text.  Weird.  Do you see this behavior as
well?  I'm completely stumped.

(We should probably move this discussion to the bug itself.)
