Tom,
JF already told you: If the backend isn't available you might want to
check on wether you have the development headers for cups installed. If
they are not in place xfprint cannot provide a backend connector (since
its missing the cups header files).
Its not about the daemon or anything else regarding your setup .. its
about wether those headers are there or not.
