Unable to get the desktop menu when right clicked on desktop.

Most likely xfdesktop, the program that creates the desktop background 
and the desktop menu, was killed somehow and when you logged out the 
first time the session manager saved it that way. Just run 'xfdesktop' 
and it should come back. If so, be sure to 'save session' when you logout.
