xfce4 mailwatch plugin question

Thanks! 'which xfce4-panel' says my prefix is /usr. Then I do the following:

$ sh autogen.sh --prefix=/usr

And I have an error:

"checking for X... no
configure: error: X Window system libraries and header files are required"

Someone can help me to manage this?
