Hello, I am trying to compile the latest trunk svn of xfce into .debs with
checkinstall for debian, and am getting this error when executing the configure
script for libxfce4util:

./configure: line 20340: syntax error near unexpected token `GOBJECT,'
./configure: line 20340: `XDT_CHECK_PACKAGE(GOBJECT, gobject-2.0, 2.2.0)'

I have already built and installed xfce4-dev-tools.  I have filed a
bug, number 1440, where the resolution was set to invalid because my
xfce4-dev-tools install was likely broken or non-existant.  How can I
check for that?  I am using the following versions of the appropriate
build tools:

autoconf 2.59a-7
automake1.9  1.9.6-3
libtool 1.5.22-2
