Thanks to all for your suggestions.
I am going to try FireFTP.
The FTP server is an USB-2.0 device belonging to my
router (Fritz!Box Fon WLAN 7170). IP: 192.168.178.1.
The removable disk is a TARGA DataBox II 250
with 2 partitions:
  1: 100 GB ext3 usbdisk
  2: 133 GB FAT32 usbdisk-1
so shown by Paragon PM 7 under Windows.
With FireFTP I do not succeed in accessing
the first partition, I only see the second as well
with Linux (Ubuntu 6.06) as with Windows XP.
Its URL has become ftp://192.168.178.1/USB2-0StorageDevice-Partition-0-2
Where ist th ext3-partition? Black hole??
I am trying anonymous access.
What am I doing wrong?

Rainer
PS: The same happens with Gftp.
