Xfprint complains about failing request with status 1030 [Was: Re: Is it possible to print?]

I've just finished to investigate the problem and it looks like it's
caused by a nasty bug in Cups (as you can reproduce it under Xubuntu as
well as i can under Gentoo). The problem comes from the fact that the
function cupsServer() returns /var/run/cups/cups.sock with the default
configuration resulting in a b0rked URL when trying to send request to
cups (try asking anything to Cups via ipp:///var/run/cups/cups.sock/). 

A good way to fix that problem is to fill the ServerName directive in
the client.conf file in cups configuration (usually found
in /etc/cups/).
