XFCE4 interaction with VNC

I have the following in my .vnc/xstartup:

     export XDG_CONFIG_HOME=/users/djc/.config2
     export XDG_CACHE_HOME=/users/djc/.cache2
     unset  SESSION_MANAGER
     startxfce4 &
