Not often. Only when i want to test a new plugin who seems interesting.

Same frequency.
The plugins was not so interesting.

Never. I did a configuration which satisfied me.

Well, waiting for 4.4 i will test to replace my left sided gkrellm with 
a panel full of all the plugins i need. So, for next release, i will 
play around.
