how to download ed2k:// links directly from firefox?

Yes, really irrelevant, but I can answer for the aMule program, not for
MLDonkey. Maybe for MLDonkey the process is the same but changing the
paths on the third point I explain:

i) Launch Firefox and write "about:config" in the address box

ii) Right click on the list and select New -> Logic. Put as preference
name "network.protocol-handler.external.ed2k" and value "true".

iii) Right click on the list and select New -> String. Put as preference
name "network.protocol-handler.app.ed2k" and put as value
"/usr/local/bin/ed2k" if you have compiled aMule by your own, or value
"/usr/bin/ed2k.amule" if you have installed from a .deb.

iv) Restart Firefox and try it.
