How fast is Xfce's composite manager?

It will be incredibly slow.If you are incredibly lucky, you might get
3 frames a second.
You'll be running composite purely in software, and the software
fallback is less than optimimally implemented anyway, and you don't
have a lot of hardware.
Running with the Vesa drivers, and -any- compositing manager is almost
unbearable here, with 512 megs of RAM, and a 2Ghz proc.
