Weird user-specific malfunction problem

I do love xfce and would be very happy about getting it going again.

No.

> As last, try removing $HOME/.config/xfce4 and $HOME/.xfce4 all together
> (do a backup in case)

I have tried this probably 10 times by now, over the course of the various 
attempts I have made to fix the problem. It never works.
