Removing the handles from pannel

Hi,

I use my xfce desktop as a BeOS clone. I'm pretty happy with it except
that i cannot see the clock on the pannel. It would be perfect if i
could remove the handles.

Heres a screen shot:

On the top, the pannel is on the back, and only the handle shows. at
the bottom, you can see that if the handle where gone i would have a
visible clock every time.

Is there any way to do this?
Or maybe just move the pannel over the screen edges?
