I think that at one point (Warty?) Ubuntu used some customized
packages from the development tree of Xfce (xfdesktop, IIRC).  Kinda
vague, I know, but you could ask crimsun in #ubuntu or #xfce on
Freenode's IRC.  That may have something to do with it.
