Adding icons on XFCE desktop

I have. Depends on what you want.

iDesk can run arbitrary shell commands when you click on an icon.
That's pretty powerful, lets you do stuff like put a document on your
desktop and specify which app to open it with.

Last I used it though, it could create icons by drag and drop with a
file manager and required editing a small config file for every icon
you wanted.

iDesk is smaller in footprint than Rox though. So the way I figure it,
use iDesk if you want to use Xffm, if you don't like Xffm, use Rox.
