Adding icons on XFCE desktop

I just tried idesk. If you have ubuntu or debian you can apt-get install

It gives you a desktop, however you lose the function of having the menu
when right clicking, which is the no1 reason that I switched to xfce
(even though recently I found out you can do that in kde too).

I'm sure if you play around you can get it to work. You can edit a lot.

Personally I like my desktop clean and empty.

take care
