Thanks! This was exactly what I was looking for (I couldn't figure out
*where* XFCE was storing it's session data.

So, I restored the xfce4-session.rc to it's original state, remove the
symlinks from the Autostart menu and changed firefox-bin &
thunderbird-bin to just firefox
& thunderbird in the file ".cache/sessions/xfce4-session-bothy:0" (bothy
being the
hostname of my machine)

So now, the file's contents is as follows (between the dashed lines).
