Question About Focus

If I have two desktops. In both I have one window.
When I switch desktops, from one to another, does window in first one 
lose focus?
Or it does not know that it's not in focus??
(I switch desktops with Cntrl+<n>, not by clicking)

I don't want window to know that it has lost focus, but use another window.
So I put two windows on different desktops, but I'm not sure if it works.
