the simplest way is to look at the settings manager or desktop menu,
both of which are larger in 4.2 .  to be sure you're using 4.2 ,
change your  PATH  (in  .bashrc ) by moving  /usr/local/bin  &  .../sbin
to before  /usr/bin  &  /usr/sbin , then restart Xfce.
