Yeah, well, that's not good enough for me ;-) We don't depend on having 
svg support. The icon theme has (should have?) png variants of all icons.

It's sounds like an installation path issues, but it might still be a 
bug in xfce.

Maybe you can file a bug on bugs.xfce.org if you haven't done so 
already. Then at least we won't forget to check this.
