adding xfce4 option in kdm or gdm

What worked for me is creating an /etc/gdm/Sessions/XFce4 file and putting the program start commands (is that what they are called? "xfdesktop &", etc.?) in there and making it executable.  That gave me the option under GDM.  Never did figure out how to do it in KDM, though.  BTW, I am on Debian testing/unstable.  Hope this helps.
