I think I have the solution,

Perhaps I add some check boxed to the toolbar that
allow the address bar to clear or display the current
location.

Then, add an xterm button on the toolbar for opening a
terminal in the current directory when the small
command line at the bottom just won't do. That way,
all the needs  an be met.
