It's not xfce nor gnome-related. I personally reported this as a
bugreport to the EVOLUTION developers and it was immediately tagged
VALID. This was quite a way back (I reported the bug back when 1.3.x was
out and they already started to release the 1.4 series) of course as
we're on 2.0.2 already now (if not further). The bug has been fixed as
far as I can remember in the 2.0 release.
so... please upgrade your evolution to 2.x to get the bugfix. 2.0.2
works just fine for me here.
