Trouble compiling

Hi all,

Sorry to bother you with this but I am trying to compile libxfcegui4 on
a debian system and keep getting the error that it can't find gtk+2.0.
I know it's installed because when I try to apt-get, it tells me so.
Can any debian users help?  Thanks.
