RedHat 9, Gnome Apps, GTK2

First of all, belated congratulations to the XFCE team on the 4.0
release--it really is beautiful and elegant in is simplicity.
I just installed the binary RPMs for Redhat 9, and I realize they're
unsupported by this project, but I wonder if any other users who may
have compiled their copies haven't experienced the same problem:
Periodically, whenever I launch an application that uses GTK2 (RH9's
GEdit, gnome-terminal, Evolution 1.4) while in XFCE4, a Window reporting
the following error appears:
Configuration server couldn't be contacted:
CORBA error: IDL:omg.org/CORBA/BAD_OPERATION:1.0
And the application generally crashes, with a Gnome message.
Upon relaunching, the same thing happens, but if I shut down XFCE4 and
restart it, the problem seems to be resolved until I shutdown. But next
session, same thing happens.
This doesn't seem to happen for older apps that only use GTK1.2.
Anyone else experience this problem?
Finally, a previous poster reported that applications crash in RH 9 when
launched from the "Applications" section in xffm. I have the same
problem, with the exact same error messages.
Matt
