I did about this exact thing.....using FreeBSD. I couldnt get Epiphany
to run nor could I get xfce to run. I ended up going into the default
wm and trying Epiphany.
I am not sure what caused this or why. I never did get Epiphany to
work, nor Evolution. I did reinstall xfce and it worked.
Sorry I cant give you a brighter outlook. Maybe someone else will.
But then again, you do have backups of all your configs...right? ";o)
