xfce4 is using a *lot* of memory

specifically, xfce4-panel is using a lot of memory - far more than xfce
3.8.18 does.  i compiled xfce4 (the cvs snapshot from the xfce website)
on sunday and love it.  (the interface has greatly improved; great job,
guys!)  the following is from top:

my machine is a dual-466mhz celeron board with 256mb of ram.  should the
panel be using this much memory?  (i have been logged in since monday
morning.)
