Panel and taskbar integration?

The modularisation is good, but sometimes it should not be
visible to the user.  E.g. if I have a panel applet instead
of another thing on my desktop, XFCE4 is not smaller or
bigger than before, it's just integrated in another way.
Of course, this is a matter of taste.  I have the panel
on the bottom of the screen, while the taskbar is on top.
I would like to have both in the same screen area, because
it saves me mouse miles.  Having both of them on the bottom
looks ugly, so it would be nice to have a task-applet
instead of a task-bar.  Same with iconbox.
