Changing Vertical Window Size

This instruction from the docs does not work in my XFce 4, version 0.2:
To maximize a window vertically :

    * middle-click the maximize button of the title bar
    * use Alt + F6 keyboard shortcut

Both techniques maximize a window in all directions.
