I do appreciate your help. The prgram starts and ask me if I want to start daemon. Whn I select start daemon, I get the error dialog. Of course the screensaver is not started.

XScreensaver-4.00 is rather old, as 4.06 was released back in July.  Which
user are you attempting this as?

Oh, and please fix your line wrap to something around 75 char/line.
