   xscreensaver-4.00.tar & xfce .18. You would be correct at not being an xfce problem, I just knew I would get beter help there, sorry I should have expressed that first. I do appreciate your help. The prgram starts and ask me if I want to start daemon. Whn I select start daemon, I get the error dialog. Of course the screensaver is not started.
