XFfm fails

I'm not sure ifthis is one of the issues holding up the release of XFCE 
4, but if it isn't, perhaps it should be.  I just happened to notice 
that when I click on any object that has an icon, the file manager 
fails.  It's possible that I did something to esacerbate such behavior, 
but that shouldn't be the case (I never had problems with the XFCE 3 
file manager,and I used it often).

What should I look for to report additional information?  I'm using the 
recent Debian XFCE 4 packages.
