Hello. I am also curious about this. It is not working for me either. I
have:

-rwxr-xr-x 1 brandon brandon	1589 Aug 13 11:43 xinitrc

for permissions on ~/.xfce4/xinitrc

and "xfce4-iconbox&" where "xftaskbar4&" was inside xinitrc.

And I have a line when X is started (using startxfce4) that reports it
is using the file from /home/brandon/.xfce4/xinitrc.

But I still get the taskbar. I can start the iconbox manually, and I
have the menu option for the iconbox in the settings manager.

I am running XFCE4 that I compiled using Gentoo's portage system. It is
labeled as version 3.99.2. I also have XFCE version 3.8.18 installed on
the same system, if that matters.

Regards,
