Panel and taskbar integration?

There is no technical reason not to do this. The main reason for not
doing this is aesthetic ... we think full width panels suck.

I don't think any of the current developers will want to add this
functionality. Sorry.

I would recommend IceWM for people who really want that kind of
environment. It's lightweight and does the panel + menu thing that so
many people see to want.

Alternatively, you could try fbpanel or something similar as a panel
instead of xfce4-panel.
