update-xfce wants dbh - ?

oh dear ...

Just to be sure, the update-xfce script is provided by someone who likes
xfce, but is in no way the official way to install it.

I don't know where you found your information about xfce, but all
locations I know of mention the dependencies.

rpm's for dbh are indeed included in our latest release:

http://www.xfce.org/archive/xfce4-rc2/rpm/rh9/dbh-1.0.14-1rh9.i386.rpm

or if you prefer sources:
