XFCE mount issue?

this isn't XFce, but it is very common -- as I understand it, some times
when the CDROM barfs (hits a scratch, cache error, whatever) the IDE bus
needs to be reset, which takes a relatively long time and is annoying.
You might be able to minimize the problem by putting the CD drive as
master on its own controller with no slaves, but you'll probably never
be able to prevent the occasional scratched or dirty CD. It's also
conceivable that the drive is failing, if this sort of thing happens
with every disc you try.

short answer: it's your hardware.
