Optional would be the name of the game. What appeals to me might be
incredibly offensive to others.
I almost never launch applications. I have four desktops set like I
want them, and when I shutdown, they always come back where I left
them. I'm not much of an icon person. If I need to launch a new app,
I do it from the run menu. The panel is just unused space on the
screen for me.
