Mandrake 8.2beta4 and XFce

I had a look at mdk package some time ago, and IIRC the patch was
outdated but still applies, so the developer over there does just
fetch the latest xfce tarball, and uploads the resulting mdk rpm.
This will lead to the current problems whereas the `make rpm`
packages from CVS will work flawlessly AFAICS. It should be about
easy to add the necessary modifications of the mdk distro with
a patch, IIRC it was just about
a) the default background color, red for root, mdkblue for users
b) add mdk firstinstall wizard to the startup files.

I have exchanged gpg keys with mandrake to sign mdk rpm packages
but it is a fact that mandrake has not accepted contrib packages
for a long time - I hear disgruntled voices from all around that
quite some of their debian-like habits seem to have gone forever.

To get at a good solution, we should think about a mandrake user
group for xfce, and push an xfce.org derived package brutally
into mandrake, I'm sure this would make better chances than just
submitting bug reports which seem to be thrown immediatly into
the bin during the lastest release cycle for 8.2.

WDYT? cheers, guido http://freespace.sf.net/guidod
