App killed when using the mouse roll?

Nope. Never. Actually xfsamba does not process the button 4 and button 5
events, which are the ones the wheel movement generates. It must be a
gtk1.2 bug.

Yes. I think that if you set your locale to fr_FR you should be able to.
When the locale is not set, there is a workaround to be able to connect
to servers with some accentuated characters (although not all in the
French language: look at routine latin_unreadable()). This bug
workaround is only active at the server level, not for directories or
files. (ie. download of a file with a accentuated character will fail).
I'm almost sure these problems dissappear if you set the locale.

Nope. Since opening a file implies having it in memory on the local
host, there is no way to get around a download.

xfsamba with gtk2 is in the oven and will soon be available. Many bugs
will be fixed in the new version, plus enhancements.
