odd terminal window behavior

Hi,

I'm using XFce 3.8.16-1 compiled from the Sourceforge src.rpm on
Mandrake 8.2, and I'm getting something odd with terminal windows:
xterm, rxvt, aterm, called directly via the run... doohickey or via
$TERMCMD.

The odd behavior is that the window stays open after I type exit, and I
have to click the close button to make it go away. Any idea?
