Obviously you are talking about "xfce_setup", isn't it?

Both items are there and not commented out(#)

If I understand your message well XFCE reads XF96Config-4 
the same way like Gnome and KDE, but why do I have access to 
all chars except in XFCE.


BTW : Selected charset is de_DE x(=should be the appropriate 
char under Q key!)euro
as displayed in locales chooser

So I guess something might be wrong in XFCE, Despite (root) 
running "xfce_setup" at least twice there is no chance to 
get meta chars like @ and all otheres?
