  It's in only one location. And no directories are repeated in
/etc/ld.so.conf:

[root at salmo /etc/postfix]# less /etc/ld.so.conf
/lib
/usr/local/lib
/usr/local/lib/sane
/usr/local/lib/glib
/usr/local/grass5/lib
/usr/X11R6/lib
/usr/lib
/usr/i486-linux-libc5/lib/

/usr/lib/sane

  Can't hurt if it's listed twice, could it?
