OK, I've progress to report. Not complete success, but definite progress.
Someone, and I apologize for forgetting who, suggested that I could
convert the format from .jpg to .xpm just by renaming the file. Well, by
golly, that works! As far as The GIMP is concerned, anyway. I copied the
file and could view the .xpm version just fine.
However, xfce still tells me that I have an invalid file format when I try
to use it as a backdrop. Could this be a function of the file size? It's
about 141K.
Thanks,
Rich
