Not nessessarily, no. I think you got that one right.

You could do that; You could also do :
. find / -name "xf*" -print | more
. Right down all the relevant places with the relevant executables
. Check the creation dates
. Replace old creation date execs with new ones by copying them over
to their respective places
As for freshening rpms, I too, am an rpm junkie but I wouldn't wholely
rely on the rpm way. After all there's nothing better than a good
old bashing at the shell term !! :-)
It worked for me anyway. I had the same prob a couple of days ago.
