Point data is temperature, humidity etc. at a certain point of time (start=end).

Interval data has different start and end times and provides data for precipitations and symbols.

“Applies to“ means “is valid for“.

Don't know how to describe it otherwise. Please read FAQ in README, it might answer your questions.
