Hey Per,

as far as Gtk goes, 'translator-credits' is exactly meant for what you
did, that is listing the translators for display in the interface,
commonly in form of About dialog. I don't think there's any exception
to that rule, unless someone intentionally diverges from that
recommendation - which I personally would really question.
